Following the success of the Athens event, the Rome meeting expanded the Action’s industrial and translational outreach by bringing together biopharmaceutical companies, SMEs, clinicians, and academic partners to discuss NRF2-driven drug discovery and clinical translation.
The event was co-organized by Working Group 4 (Exploitation and Industrial Translation) and the Department of Biochemical Sciences “A. Rossi Fanelli” at Sapienza University. The scientific program featured thematic sessions on drug discovery, clinical biomarkers, regulatory aspects of NRF2-targeted therapeutics, and translational case studies. Presentations from biotech companies highlighted the development of NRF2 modulators for metabolic, pulmonary, and neurodegenerative disorders, while academic contributors introduced novel mechanistic insights and model systems.
Parallel sessions focused on preclinical assay development, bioinformatics integration, and biomarker standardization, reflecting BenBedPhar’s multidisciplinary approach. The meeting included a networking exhibition area where laboratories presented their service platforms for compound testing, omics analysis, and biomarker validation.
Industry participants included European SMEs and pharma affiliates engaged in oxidative stress modulation, redox diagnostics, and antioxidant compound design. Collaboration opportunities emerging from the showcase were subsequently discussed through WG4 coordination, supporting follow-up project proposals and technology-transfer actions.
The Rome Industry Showcase represented a major step in BenBedPhar’s industrial engagement strategy, enhancing partnerships between academia and the private sector and consolidating the network’s role as a European hub for NRF2-based therapeutic innovation.
